The Forest Craft skill is now in. So you can craft blankets and other misc. items with it. Took me a while to get the Items to fully remove from the client because I overlooked a small function. It turns out I actually put nothing into the broadcasting packets function and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. Among that, I've fixed a few errors that would popup. My main issue now is fixing al
Unfortunately, the code is getting a little ugly, so I'm hoping Baseball435 will whip me into shape with his amazing code organization abilities. I ran into an issue with java's ObjectOutputStream's, apparently if you don't call reset on it, it will resend previously sent versions of an object which caused a bit of stress. Thankfully I figured it out though! Here is a list of what's happening...
I've been working on improving the shadow casting rendering. It's going fairly well but I spent a lot of time on it. I mean a lot of time on it.
I've also been working on some GUI. The image above shows that inventory GUI so far. It doesn't really do much except display all the items and changes colors when you hover over an item holder. Some work has been put into the Documentation pages. The new concept page gives an overall feeling of what the game will be like. Here's a link as well: Concept Page I had some issues with the dynamic shadow casting so I had to go back. Some day though! It just took me too much time. The switch over to openGL has proved to be a tad more difficult than I had first though Pulled an all-nighter and created the map maker. When I get the map maker more functional, I can start posting a help wanted ad for map designers.
So far you can save and load maps and select between single, rectangle, and full fill utensils. Since all the tiles haven't been coded in the selection is pretty limited, but that will soon change. Among other progress I've made, I've created a day and night system. It doesn't do much except limit the range of sight and make tiles get darker the farther they are. Very similar to the old system. Sometimes I wish I could just have a normal sleeping schedule. |
